Work Package 2 will mostly be devoted to investigate, under controlled and ecologically relevant experimental conditions, the uptake, bioaccumulation, biotransformation and excretion kinetics of APIs as well as ecotoxicological adverse effects in aquatic, non-target model species. Organisms, including species comparable to those characterized in the field will be treated with selected APIs, both alone and in mixtures, to clarify whether additive or synergistic effects may exacerbate the outcome of single molecules.
