Precision-Cut Tissues Slices (PTCS) from the digestive gland of mussels: innovative experimental approach to investigate the APIs mechanisms of actions.
On February the UNIVPM teams started to investigate the different mechanisms of actions of various pharmaceuticals by using the experimental model of Precision-Cut Tissues Slices (PTCS) in digestive gland of Mytilus galloprovincialis (Giuliani et al., 2019).
This ex vivo approach includes the excision of the digestive glands from mussels, the inclusion of tissue in agarose and the cut of slices of 300μm thickness using a motorized vibrating blade vibratome. The PCTS produced by each individual are exposed to pharmaceuticals to investigate the mechanisms of action of these molecules.
