Four pharmaceuticals and their mixture were tested on mussels to evaluate their bioaccumulation and biological effects.
On 21th December the experiment performed by UNIVPM team ended. This experiment involved the mussels exposure to four different pharmaceuticals (one antidepressant, two lipid regulators and one antidiabetic) and their mixture at controlled conditions for 30 days, including 14 additional days as depuration period.
Bioaccumulation and biological effects of single pharmaceuticals and mixture will be characterized in order to increase the knowledge on the effects in non-target organisms of these molecules and to investigate the potential additive, synergistic or antagonistic interactions within mixtures.
